I have no idea what the story of this anime is, and it’s pretty obvious who the protag is, but I’m gonna add character to the girls to the left with no face

introducing these two background characters in this slice of life romantic comedy/drama - they love each other a lot, and the girl to the left is grumpy because her girlfriend to the right forgot to give her her good morning kiss.

  • erikandcharlesarebi

taller girl on the right is oblivious because she was so excited when they got up because she’s treating her girlfriend to a surprise date at the amusement park that she forgot to give her a good morning kiss. they’ll have their first smooch of the day at the very top of the ferris wheel 💋

  • glitchytripod

the guy to the right of the protag (with the glasses) is a simple office worker who loves his family very very much and cannot wait to get back home to his children

  • its-peeps

The guy on the far left is wanting to get home to make dinner. He lives alone, but he promised his kitten they would have some grilled fish as a treat! He loves her very much.

The tall one behind the two girls just got back from a job interview. He didn’t get the job but he’s confidant he’ll get the next one. He needs to provide for his son and two daughters after all.

Person to the left of the pink hair girl is a retired hit-man struggling to adjust to a normal life but hes recently found a woman that works at a cafe down the street from his new job and things seem to be going well.

the man on the far far right is anxious as it’s his and his boyfriend first date aniversary and that’s the longest he lasted in a relationship, he is confident that this one will last tho

Everyone is the protagonist of their own story.

idk how the hell i’ve run a blog called ‘botanyshitposts’ for almost four years now without ever thinking to talk about this but in high school my little brother wanted a pet that wouldnt die so we got him a moss ball for $8 at a pet store and he named it tiki and it lives in this dedicated plastic tank at our parents’ house even though we’re both at college now. usually it doesnt do anything but over the past two weeks of winter break our family has watched in horror as it has gone about the process of slowly and ominously rising from its usual position at the depths of its abode to the top, where it now floats with gravel bits stuck to it from literal years of not moving. my mom has moved it to behind the sink so now whenever i go to wash my hands in the kitchen i have to face it and im scared

  • botanyshitposts

just squeezed all the water out of her like yall said in the replies and i put her back and shes still floating….maybe she just likes it up there

update: she sank to the bottom and stayed there for days and i thought this story was over until i WALKED OVER TO THE SINK JUST NOW

test: pet her, tell her she is a good moss ball

    results: she sit

  • botanyshitposts

    wild things about this post:

-the amount of porn bots mass reblogging this bc of the word ‘ball’

-the amount of people with extensive knowledge about native moss ball habitats and care coming out of the woodwork to reply to this post

-the amount of people endeared and riveted by her ongoing performance

Did you hear about happened to Japanese idol Maho Yamaguchi? She had to apologize for being assaulted by two men (who are "fans") because it "caused trouble". Not making this up, there is even a live-streamed video about it.

In a way, I have some experience with this as a past fan of k-pop & j-pop. In Asia this sort of thing (celebrities having to apologize for living their lives or doing things that “cause their fans trouble/worry/heartache”) happens a ton. If they’re secretly dating another celebrity and they’re found out, they’re expected to apologize. If they are hurt on stage or in a car accident, they’re expected to apologize. If they lash out at someone for stalking them or invading their privacy (which happens a ton, especially with kpop fans; google the term sasaeng) they are expected to apologize. The scenarios go on and on and on.

I’m not surprised, though it doesn’t make me less disgusted that this happened. Obviously she shouldn’t have had to apologize for what those men did to her, fans or not.

Idol culture is so grossly misogynistic and disgusting. It’s why I try to avoid the genre like the plague.

They can’t even date while they’re an idol, and it’s apparently expanding to seiyuu as well. Because otherwise they’re not “pure”.

Isn’t there anything we can do to change it outside of posts on Tumblr? Like,

    “Misogynistic”

Honey, this isn not a female-idol-only problem. They do this to the guys, too.

    What the fuck?

I genuinely had no idea. I mean, I knew about the women, but they do this with guys, too?

Yeah. It’s a huge problem across the board for these idols.

Yeah idol culture is pretty fucked up… Some of the issues stem from the fact that idols are not really seen as “independent” so to say like celebs are here in America. They’re expected to be for their fans and doing any type of independent work is heavily discouraged if not outright forbidden.

For some reason in Japan, it’s a general expectation to apologize if you cause trouble however, even if it wasn’t your fault.

@azurowle Idol culture is basically you are character that is there for the fans. The business people behind the bands are 100% aware of the fact that some fans delude themselves into believing they have this deep relationship with the idols, they are their partners/friends and that they are unhealthy form of escapism, which is why all the idols kinda behave the same, because they know who it attracts, they make these performers behave like they are talking to the audience and etc, so they can make these maladjusted people spend hundreds of thousands they don’t even have into merchandise.

A movie that shows how damaging and scary both the position as a idol and it’s worship is the animated thriller Perfect Blue, in the movie we see the main character Mima having a mental constant breakdown caused by a identity crisis cause by her leaving her career as a idol together with the constant threats of a mysterious stalker “that wants the real mima back”, the movie doesn’t really try to make much commentary. Basically, idol group managers want to attract the same people as Ricardo López the Bjork stalker who killed himself and sent a bomb to the singer, they want these crazy people who will do anything to support the idea of the singer and what they pretend to be.
